JOB DESCRIPTION
ADVENTIST MEDIA MINISTRIES

  

Position Title: Social Media Intern             
Status: Full Time Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

 The social media intern will build relationships with listeners and supporters of VOP by connecting them with the ministry through social media and other related communication channels.
 
This paid internship position will last 12 months, with regular informal reviews every 90 days to ensure the intern is growing in his or her position and is progressing professionally.
 
Authority & Accountability:
 Authority as delegated by the Public Relations Director and directly responsible to the Public Relations Director and Sr. Marketing & Development Director.
 
Essential Position Functions:
 

  • Prepare and develop social media content to support and enhance the Voice of Prophecy’s mission and vision.
  • Develop and maintain social media strategy and calendar for the Voice of Prophecy.
  • Ensure that websites remain up-to-date, suggest additions and update old content.
  • Monitor posts and analyze/report on social media channels.
  • Build a community of followers and strengthen interaction with each of the ministry’s publics.
  • Understand and implement the latest best practices for social media.
  • Elevate other VOP-related social media accounts (Discover, Bibleinfo, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) to engage with current supporters and bring in new ones.
  • Coordinate with the Discovery Mountain team to promote their social media efforts and cross-brand wherever possible.
  • Work side by side with the Creative Department to ensure branding consistency online.
  • Create short video pieces introducing members of the team, or featuring events or special projects.
  • Strategize with the Public Relations Director to best use advertising dollars in targeted social media/Google AdWords/YouTube campaigns.
  • Assist the Public Relations Director in the creation of e-newsletters.
  • Integrate social media call-outs into the ministry’s twice-yearly magazine.
  • Find ways to integrate social media engagement with VOP’s donor management system to grow the mailing and email lists.
  • Respond to requests sent via social media, or direct requests to appropriate departments.
  • Serve as a backup proofreader/writer as needed.
  • Learn about other functions of the ministry, including broadcasting and design.
  • Engage in other projects and duties as assigned by the Public Relations Director or Sr. Director of Marketing & Development.
 
Position Specifications: 
  1. Qualifications, Scope, and Complexity of Duties:
 
  1. Education: A bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication, journalism or a related field.
  2. Considerable experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
  3. Ability to tailor messages to each social media platform.
  4. Strong writing and editing skills.
  5. An eye for photography and video.
  6. The ability to edit images as needed.
  7. Must be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who believes in and supports its fundamental teachings.
  8. Must exhibit Christ-like decorum and personal responsibility.
  9. Skills, scope and complexity of duties:
    • Knowledge of various computer programs and online platforms for completing duties.
    • Exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail.

Position: Staff Accountant
 
Ministry/Department: Treasury
 
Status: Full Time Temporary (non-exempt)
 
Job Summary: Applicant will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties.  The assigned duties will be selected from the following categories and may change depending on organizational needs: deposit tracking, donation imports, cash receipt posting, wires, cash reports, reconciliations other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in accounting. Two years prior accounting experience is preferred.
 
Skills: Must possess strong interpersonal skills and work well with people. Proficiency in keyboard skills.  Also strong analytical and problem solving skills.  Must be able to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.  Must be accurate, organized and detail oriented. Work within a Microsoft Windows environment, and know Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Must have ability to learn new software related to work needs. Demonstrates ability to reach decisions and follows through within scope of responsibility as defined by the job description. Flexible under deadline pressures.

  1. EducationMinimum of high school degree required. Some college experience preferred.
  2. Experience: Five years experience in a customer service preferred, dealing directly with customers. Three years of supervisory or management experience preferred.

Responsible for representing the ministry via communication and events within and outside the Seventh-day Adventist Church.   
         
II.  JOB DUTIES

Write TV program descriptions. Maintain, update, and distribute pressroom webpage and PR photo drive; plan, direct, compile, and edit Impressions magazine; reply to inquiries via social media, pr@iiw.org, impressions@iiw.org. Prepare EveryWord, bi-weekly, and specific emails via Mailchimp; plan, schedule, and prepare social media posts; update ISSUU with digital copy of printed media; prepare blog postings, update website with PR material as needed; order giveaways for conventions; assist with convention planning, submit news stories to NAD NewsPoints, Union, and Adventist Review magazines; collect and maintain ministry stories and viewer responses; edit and proof material for various departments as needed. Other duties as assigned. 
 

III. QUALIFICATIONS:
